It has been an action-packed week for St. Paul’s University (SPU) sports, with our athletes demonstrating exceptional skill, discipline, and the "Limuru spirit" across two major national and regional competitions. From the high-speed intensity of rollball in Nairobi to the calculated precision of darts and woodball in Kakamega, the SPU Paulites have returned home with heads held high and trophies in hand.
Silver and Bronze at the East Africa University Games
Our Darts and Woodball teams traveled to Kakamega County for the prestigious 5th Edition of the East Africa University Games, hosted by Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) between March 20th and 22nd.
Competing against the finest talent from across the region, SPU proved to be a powerhouse in precision sports:
-
Darts: Our team secured a brilliant 1st Runners-up finish, narrowly missing the top spot but proving their dominance on the board.
-
Woodball: The team displayed incredible focus on the fairways, clinching the 2nd Runners-up position.
Beyond the team trophies, our individual stars were honored with medals and certificates of participation, while St. Paul’s University received a Certificate of Appreciation for its continued contribution to regional sports development.
Rolling into the Finals: Kenya Rollball Federation National League
Back in the city, the SPU Men’s Rollball team was busy at Kenyatta University (KU) on March 21st and 22nd, battling it out in the Kenya Rollball Federation National League.
The team showed immense grit and teamwork as they navigated the weekend's matches. This serves as a crucial build-up to the league’s grand finale, which is set to take place on the weekend of March 29th, 2026.
"The dedication shown by these students is a testament to the holistic growth we value at SPU. They aren't just athletes; they are ambassadors of our values." — Dr. Petronilla Otuya
Behind the Success
The teams were led and cheered on by a dedicated technical and administrative team, including:
-
Dr. Petronilla Otuya: Dean, School of Education and Social Sciences.
-
Mr. Gibson Luyari: University Sports Officer.
Their leadership ensures that our students balance their academic pursuits with the rigorous demands of competitive sports.
What’s Next?
The season isn't over yet! All eyes are now on the Rollball team as they prepare for the final league matches this coming weekend. Let’s come out in large numbers to support our boys as they aim to finish the season on a high note.
Congratulations to all our champions!
