A New Dawn of Leadership: SPUSA Leaders Sworn In for the 2026/2027 Academic Year

The atmosphere at the St. Paul’s University Limuru Campus was electric last Friday, May 22nd, 2026, as the newly elected student leaders officially took their oaths of office. Representing the diverse student body across the Limuru, Nairobi, Nakuru, and Virtual campuses, the new St. Paul's University Student Association (SPUSA) team has officially stepped up to lead for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The colorful swearing-in ceremony marks a fresh chapter for SPUSA, with both the Supreme Council and Governing Council leaders vowing to collaborate closely with the university management to represent student interests with clarity, integrity, and mutual respect.

The leaders were officially sworn in by the University's legal representative and Registrar in-charge of Administration, Mr. James Mururi.

National Leadership Challenges Gen-Z to Lead with Integrity

The auspicious event was graced by Hon. Eugene Ludovic Wamalwa, former Minister of Defense and party leader of DAP-K. Addressing the congregation, Hon. Wamalwa did not hold back in challenging the new generation of leaders - the Gen-Zs - to be pro-active on matters of national interest and ensure their voices are heard.

"You are a generation that is going to bring change in this country," Hon. Wamalwa emphasized.

He reminded the student leaders that leadership is, first and foremost, a heavy responsibility. He challenged the new SPUSA team to remain accountable to both their fellow students and the university administration. In light of the current high-voltage national political environment, Hon. Wamalwa strongly cautioned the youth against falling prey to divisive and tribal narratives driven by national politicians, urging them instead to embrace peace, unity, and harmony.

University Management Pledges Full Support

Speaking during the ceremony, Prof. Esther Mombo, the Acting Vice Chancellor of St. Paul's University, shared her hearty congratulations with the outgoing SPUSA team for a smooth transition and applauded the incoming team for answering the call to serve.

Prof. Mombo underscored her commitment to student-centric leadership, reaffirming her collaborative approach to governance.

"I have an open-door policy. I therefore invite you to my office at any time for deliberations and discussions that will improve the student experience here at St. Paul's University," remarked Prof. Mombo.

Echoing her sentiments, Dr. Suleiman Mwangi, the Acting DVC-Finance & Administration, reiterated the importance of partnership. He assured the newly minted leaders of the management's full support regarding all financial obligations required to successfully run student activities throughout the year.
