BRINGING HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS AND CHURCH LEADERS TOGETHER
30th to 31st Oct 2025
St. Paul’s University, Limuru Campus
About
Mental health is a reality that affects the society and church in Kenya. However, besides the common discussions around the topic, church interventions are usually not grounded in the data surrounding how to offer holistic pastoral care especially to the emerging generations. This workshop is designed to bring healthcare professionals (e.g., therapists, psychologists, counselors) together with church leaders (e.g., pastors, ministry leaders, theologians) to explore this issue of mutual concern for both groups of people. The workshop is funded by the John Templeton foundation and the University of Birmingham Cross Training Fellowship program.
Workshop Aims
- To train church leaders on common mental health challenges.
- To explore the relationship between psychology and theology in mental health interventions.
- To foster a positive attitude for faith and science integration in the African context to reduce mental health stigma.
