Decoding Creation: St. Paul’s University Hosts a Rich Dialogue Between Science and Faith

The afternoon of July 2, 2026, was truly inspiring for the St. Paul’s University community. Students, faculty, and distinguished guests gathered at the School of Theology for a deeply thought-provoking public lecture titled: "Decoding Creation: What Modern Scientific Data Reveals About Purpose in the Universe." Hosted in a dynamic partnership with BioCosmos Kenya and the Directorate of Research and Innovation, the event tackled one of humanity's oldest and most profound intersections: the relationship between rigorous scientific inquiry and deep Christian faith.

Insights from the Panels

The lecture featured a brilliant lineup of scholars who challenged the audience to look at the universe through both empirical and theological lenses:

  • The Scientific Evidence: Dr. Lencer Ndede (Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology - MMUST) challenged attendees to look afresh at modern scientific data, highlighting how the complexities of creation point toward an underlying purpose.
  • The Theological Depth: Rev. Dr. Gift Mtukwa (Africa Nazarene University) and our very own Rev. Dr. Kevin Muriithi Ndereba brought vital theological context to the conversation, reminding the community of the historic Christian foundations that have long supported and driven scientific discovery.

The event was officially opened with welcoming remarks from the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academic Affairs (DVCAA), Prof. Abraham Waithima, and the Head of Department (HOD), Rev. Dr. John Kiboi.

Launching the Next Generation of Thinkers

The lecture didn't just spark a temporary conversation; it established a lasting legacy. The event closed with the official induction of the BioCosmos Student Club at St. Paul's University. This new club provides our students with a dedicated vibrant space to keep exploring complex questions of science, faith, and intelligent design long after the lecture ended.

"We are incredibly grateful for a university community that is unafraid to sit at the intersection of rigorous science and deep faith."

A Generous Donation

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partners at BioCosmos Kenya for making this event possible. In addition to anchoring the dialogue, they generously donated copies of the book, "Beyond Evolution: Unravelling Intelligent Design in Nature's Blueprint," to help our students continue their research and reading.

St. Paul's University remains committed to fostering environments where faith and intellect grow together. Stay tuned for more conversations like this in the near future!
