Masters in Theology

Introduction

The Masters in Theology is an innovative and practical degree program for Pastors, Church workers, Academicians, lay persons in the church, and Para-church organizations; this programme prepares persons for ministry either in the church or in faith-based organizations and other areas e.g. counselling, chaplaincy, and teaching.

Programme Objectives

The goal of the MTh programme is to offer a combination of theoretical knowledge and concrete skills in the study of theology that by the end of the programme, the student should be able to demonstrate critical knowledge of the structure, central themes, historical, cultural, and literary nature of the subject of theology and its relevance for contemporary society.

Areas of Specialization

  • Biblical Studies (Biblical Translation, Old Testament and New Testament);
  • Systematic Theology (Systematic, Philosophy, and Gender and Theology);
  • Philosophical Theology;
  • Gender Theology;
  • Practical Theology (Pastoral Counselling and Pastoral Ministry tracks);
  • World Christianity;
  • Missiology; and
  • Ecumenical Leadership.

Admission Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree with at least an upper Second class honors; or

A Bachelor's degree with a lower Second Class Honors and two years' work experience in a related field, or

A Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on 4.0 scale (B+) or the equivalent, from an accredited University.

Duration

Two (2) years (4 Semesters).
