St. Paul’s University (SPU) recently had the distinct honor of hosting a prominent delegation from St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and East Central University (Ada, Oklahoma, USA). The visit was a vibrant celebration of fellowship, cultural exchange, and international collaboration, aiming to strengthen global ties and explore future opportunities for joint academic and community initiatives.
The visit carried a special significance as it marked a homecoming for one of SPU’s own. The USA delegation included:
- Dr. Shirley Ann Mixon – Lecturer, East Central University
- Dr. Christine Carol Pappas – Lecturer, East Central University
- Rev. Isaac Njenga Mwangi – Priest, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church (and a proud SPU Alumnus), accompanied by his son, Savior Njenga.
The visit was seamlessly spearheaded by the St. Paul’s University Alumni Association (SPUAA), led by Chairperson Mr. Charles Wachira, in close collaboration with the Alumni Affairs Office and Dr. Wanjugu Wachira (Coordinator, Partnerships, Collaborations and International Students Office).
A Courtesy Call and Campus Experience
The delegation paid a courtesy call to SPU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Esther Mombo, engaging in high-level discussions regarding the university's mission, academic programs, and its rich history of contributing to theological education, leadership development, and community transformation.
Beyond the boardroom, the visitors immersed themselves in the SPU culture. They experienced the university’s vibrant spiritual life firsthand by attending a chapel service and enjoyed a comprehensive guided tour of the campus and its state-of-the-art facilities.
"This visit reflects the growing importance of international partnerships in advancing education, faith-based engagement, research, and community development."
