Fare thee well Rev. Canon Prof. James Kombo

We learnt of the passing on of this legend with profound sorrow owing to the sudden nature of his demise. Just the other day, the St. Paul’s Community together with his family celebrated your impeccable service to the university at a special feat, oblivious of this harsh reality that has hit sooner than we expected.

Prof. Kombo was more than an academic; he was a pillar of wisdom, integrity, and servant leadership. Within the university, his contribution was both deep and far-reaching. He dedicated himself tirelessly to shaping minds and nurturing character, leaving an indelible mark on generations of students.

Beyond his great contribution in academia, Prof. Kombo’s influence extended richly into the life of the church. He was a devoted servant of God who used his knowledge and gifts to build and strengthen the body of Christ. Through teaching, mentorship, and active participation in church programs, he exemplified a life grounded in faith and humility. His ability to bridge theology and everyday life made him a powerful voice within the church community, encouraging many to live out their faith with conviction and purpose. He did not simply speak about faith—he lived it, becoming a source of inspiration to many.

In the wider community, Prof. Kombo was a beacon of hope and a champion of positive change. He believed in the transformative power of education and service, and he actively engaged in initiatives that uplifted society. Whether through community outreach, public discourse, or quiet acts of kindness, he demonstrated a deep commitment to the well-being of others. His life was a testament to the idea that true greatness lies in serving others selflessly.

Even in this time of grief, we submit to God’s will, drawing comfort from the words of Isaiah 41:10: “I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” We take solace in the knowledge that his life was impactful, purposeful, and well-lived.

Prof. Kombo’s legacy will endure—in the halls of the university, in the hearts of the faithful, and in the lives of those he touched within the community. He leaves behind a rich heritage of knowledge, faith, and service that will continue to inspire generations to come.

May the Almighty grant his family, friends, and the entire St. Paul’s Community peace and strength during this difficult time. Fare thee well, Prof. James Kombo. Your work on earth is done, but your impact will live on forever.
