The streets of Limuru underwent a vibrant transformation this past Friday. In a powerful display of community and purpose, students and staff swapped their usual routines for walking shoes, "painting the town white" for a cause that hits close to home: the Elimu Bora Walk.
Walking the Talk
The energy was palpable as the event was officially flagged off by Prof. Esther Mombo, our Acting Vice Chancellor. Her presence underscored the university's commitment to ensuring that financial barriers don't stand in the way of academic excellence.
As the procession moved through Limuru, the message was clear: No student should be left behind. The walk wasn't just about the distance covered; it was about the lives we aim to change. Every step taken was a symbolic commitment to securing a brighter, more stable future for needy students within our community.
Why "Elimu Bora" Matters
In an era where education is the ultimate equalizer, many brilliant minds face the threat of dropping out due to lack of fees and basic needs. The Elimu Bora initiative is our collective response to that challenge.
- Awareness: Sensitizing the public to the plight of underprivileged students.
- Solidarity: Showing our students that the entire institution stands behind them.
- Action: Raising the necessary funds to keep dreams alive.
The Road to June: The Marathon Awaits
If you missed the walk, don't worry - this was just the warm-up! Friday’s success served as the perfect curtain-raiser for the main event. We are officially in the countdown to the Elimu Bora Marathon this June. Friday proved that when we move together, we make noise. In June, we’re going to make history. Whether you’re a sprinter, a casual jogger, or a dedicated cheerleader, we need your lungs and your legs to help us cross the finish line for our students.
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." — Friday was proof that we are ready to arm the next generation.
A massive thank you to everyone who participated, cheered from the sidelines, or donated. Let’s keep this momentum going all the way to the June marathon!
