The faculty of Theology will host a public lecture on Thursday, 8th February from 2:00pm - 3.30pm titled Christians of Color: Martin Luther and Ethiopian Christianity. The presenter is Professor David Daniels III from MC Cormack Theological seminary, Chicago.

The forum is open to participants from all over the country with interest in the field of Theology.

 

Dr. David D. Daniels III is Henry Winters Luce Professor of World Christianity at McCormick Theological Seminary where he joined the faculty in 1987. He has taught as an occasional professor at seminaries in the Philippines and Ghana.

Dr. Daniels earned a bachelor degree from Bowdoin College, Master of Divinity from Yale University, and the Ph.D. degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York City.

The author of over fifty scholarly book chapters, academic journal articles, and general essays, he has published on topics related the history of African American Christianity, Global Pentecostalism, and World Christianity.

He has served as a member of eight research projects funded by various foundations, including the Eli Lilly Endowment, the Luce Foundation, and Pew Charitable Trust. Currently, he directs a study of the Black Church in metropolitan Chicago and their engagement of urban issues, including gun violence.

He has delivered public lectures at over twenty colleges and seminaries in the United States and other countries along with presenting academic papers at conferences in over ten countries in addition to the United States such as Malaysia, South Korea, Senegal, Nigeria, Sweden, Germany, and Switzerland. He has served as the president of the Society for Pentecostal Studies and co-chair of the Reformed-Pentecostal International Dialogue.

He has preached in congregations of various Christian traditions, ranging from Pentecostal, Apostolic, Presbyterian, Baptist to Roman Catholic, in United States as well as in Brazil, Ghana, the Philippines, Great Britain, Greece, and Canada. He is a bishop in the Church of God in Christ, chairing the denomination's Board of Education.

He is married to the Rev. Dr. Delois Brown-Daniels; they are parents of two adult children, David and DeAndrea
