Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administartion and Management


The Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration and Management course provides advanced studies in the main disciplines of business. The programme will be delivered in a modular system where students will be required to study in a compulsory foundational module after which they elect to concentrate in a particular discipline from the beginning of the second year of the study.

After the successful completion of the foundational module, the student has the option to pursue any one of the areas of specialization, which are, Entrepreneurship development, Finance, Human capital Management, Leadership and management international business management, Marketing, project management, procurement and supply, chain management and strategic management. The course takes a minimum of three years. The first year is allocated for class work during which course work is covered and second and third year are reserved for research and thesis writing.

Minimum entry requirements

To be eligible for admission into degree of doctor of philosophy, a candidate must be a holder of a master’s degree or its equivalent from a recognized university.

Other admission requirements

Subject to the approval of senate, faculties may formulate regulations requiring applicants to have obtained such academic or equivalent qualifications as are considered necessary for registration within the academic area of interest of the faculty.

Form and Duration of the Programme

1. Form of the programme

The doctor of philosophy in business administration and management programme shall be offered in modular and fulltime modes of study over a period of three years.

2. Duration of the programme

The doctor of philosophy in business administration and management programme shall be a 9 trimester programme. Each trimester will be a 15 weeks duration including one week of examination.


After completing course work students will develop a thesis in their areas of specialization. The areas can be drawn from:
