Certificate in Community Development

Certificate in Community Development is a certificate course that prepares trainees to productively participate in community development initiatives by imparting them with skills in various aspects of this discipline: leadership, legal aspects in social development, capacity building and empowerment, development methodologies, gender and social work.

Course Structure

The course is offered in two modules each assigned eight units. At the end of each module, students shall be taken for field trips to a number of development projects that will equip them with skills to professionally conceive, develop and manage development projects.

At the end of the course students are required to go for the industrial attachment program to learn about the working environment.

Intakes

  • May intake, for the class based learning module.

Entry Requirements

  • KCSE aggregate average of at least C plain (C) with a C+ in Mathematics and English or its equivalent.

Student Evaluation

All units are assesed within the modules or semesters they are taken. Assessment shall comprise of continuous assessments tests, projects and the final examination. The final examination is administered by the Kenya National Examinations Council.
