SPU's CCMRE holds workshop on Peacemaking and Reconciliation

SPU's Centre for Christian-Muslim Relations in Eastleigh (CCMRE) will hold a one week workshop ( from 21st -25th July 2014) ,on the theme of " Being a people of God in an "insecure" Interfaith Context. The event will take place both in Eastleigh and at SPU.

Canon Chris Chivers, an Anglican Priest who is also the chair of trustees, United Society ( formerly USPG)  and Ms Anjum Anwar, a Muslim lady working with ExChange will facilitate the event. Canon Chivers is no stranger to SPU. He has visited the university in the past, presented lectures both in class and in public and preached during the wednesday service.

This event comes against a background of terror attacks in different parts of Kenya in general and Eastleigh in particular and is part of SPU's social response to societal challenges. The workshops are only one among the various initiatives by CCMRE to respond positively to the challenge of  suspicion and violence in Kenya today.  The series of workshops will begin with an informal visit to Eastleigh where participants will interact with residents
