SPU today, 2nd November 2016, launched its first multidisciplinary journal of research. The journal is a forum where researchers will publish their scholarly work and disseminate their research findings.
It will establish dialogue from a community of scholars and researchers in different fields of study. It also seeks to promote the development of original theoretical thinking in various fields of study as well as raise the standards of research. The journal is a link between the academic world and industry platforms which is a fundamental requirement in the 21st century.
During the launch the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Galgalo lauded the committee in charge for a job well done. “One of our goals was to have an internationally recognized journal and I am glad to see its fruits today,” Prof Galgalo said.
The idea of the AMJR was conceptualized in May 2015 and a journal committee comprising of academicians from different disciplines were appointed to spearhead this important venture for the university. The committee’s mandate was to participate in the initial peer review process, establish a pool of external peer reviewers and manage the overall editorial direction of the AMJR. The final step was for the journal committee to consult with the Editorial board for the endorsement of journal editions.
After the rigorous process the successful articles are now projected in the university website (www.spu.ac.ke) on, journals.spu.ac.ke and the print copies are now available for sale. The journal is multidisciplinary in nature and it shall be produced biannually, both online and in print.
